The Casli Group is utilizing a 6.5 MW plant, consisting of 9 generator sets, to power a tunnel boring machine at an altitude of over 4,000 meters in the Andes Mountains. DSF Tecnologías has developed the protection and control automation systems for the plant, including LV and MV electrical grounding system studies, short-circuit and selectivity of electrical protections, and integration of all elements into the automation system.
The automation system includes ECOGen, which ensures the highest fuel efficiency by starting up and shutting down gensets based on their performance per liter of fuel. The generator sets are equipped with the easYgen-3200XT control module, which have been customized to display the electrical and mechanical parameters of the genset. To protect the expensive generator equipment, emergency shutdowns will occur if ground fault currents are detected.
