Fishing Support Vessels “Sea Admiral” & “Sea Liberty 1” controls upgrade in Norway

A recent retrofit project was carried out on two Fishing Support Vessels in Norway, namely the “Sea Admiral” and “Sea Liberty 1”. These vessels were equipped with dieselelectric propulsion and were previously fitted with outdated Woodward EGCP-3 LS paralleling controls systems, along with hydraulic actuators and the well-known 2301E Controls. Both ships were originally built in 2010 and certified by the American Bureau of Shipping as offshore supply ships, and are currently sailing under the flag of Norway.

To upgrade the controls system, the team installed three easYgen-3500XT-P2 units, three QCC (former Barber Colman/Woodward) series 8000 electric actuators, and three Woodward small digital control boxes. The new system has proven to be exceptional and has been operating smoothly in the ship workshop. The retrofit project has significantly improved the efficiency of the vessels’ controls system, ensuring better performance and reliability for future operations.
